Slot Car

Setup Rules & Guidelines

Oz Scale Racers wishes to encourage the hobby to be developed as a family oriented adventure which is open to all to enjoy.

All classes we run only consist of the same brand manufacturer. ie We race Ninco with Ninco, NSR with NSR, Revo Slot with Revo Slot etc.

In order to help keep the costs down for existing members and potential new members, we try and use our cars as close to stock standard as we can.

Please see below our 1:32 and 1:24 slot car setup guidelines.

If you feel you would fit into the group and are ready for the challenge and some fun, then simply click the button below to submit our online enquiry form. We are always happy to meet new people who share the same interest.

Slotcar Setup Rules

1:32 Scale

Setup Guidelines

in order to help ensure all cars in a class are even and promote close racing, cars should remain stock standard ( Out of the box ), with the following exceptions.

No trimming of wheel wells inside bodies.

You may trim the sides of your chassis to allow for Oscillation. - 1mm or 2mm max.

You may glue tyres to rims and true the tyres. Slight bevelling of the tyres may be done, however excessive rounding to purposely narrow the tyres is not allowed. ( Ex Rubber Bands ).

We use MJK Tyres - ( Urethane), or depending on the class, use stock standard tyres.

No Silicone tires allowed in any class!!!

Tyres cannot be hard coated with Nail polish etc.

You may true the front & rear tyres, however they must retain their original standard measurements.

No Magnets! - ALL magnets need to be removed.

Bracing of motor / chassis is allowed. ie Ninco Cars with Anglewinder motor setup, Slor cars with thin chassis that require bracing etc. if you are unsure, then ask before making alterations.

Spacers may be used to prevent wheel slop.

Rear axle bushes may be glued to help avoid rear axle from popping out of chassis.

NO changing of Guides to any car unless expressed by that class.

You may use any Braids you like.

Foam between chassis posts and body to help quieten cars is allowed.

Weights may be used in your car if you choose. ( Ex Lead Tape,Blu Tack, Coins).

Cars may be painted or decorated as you wish, but need to have a race number.

No grinding to the inside of your body with the intent to lighten your body.

Motors and Gears MUST be stock. If the either is changed, it must be a direct replacement for that vehicle. ( Ex: 9 tooth pinion replaced by another 9 tooth pinion, 32 Spur with 32 Spur. )

Lowering of cars is not allowed unless expressed by that class!

1:24 Scale

Setup Guidelines

In order to make things easier we run out of the box BRM / TTS Cars for our 24 scale classes. Doing so avoids members / newcomers from having to purchase, chassis, parts, kits, paint, decals etc and then having to build a car. This can keep the costs down and ensure that all cars in a particualr class are all the same and in return, promotes closer racing.

Cars should be stock standard with the following exceptions.

Foam between chassis plates and mounting brackets are allowed to dampten vibration and help quiten car.

Must use stock standard cars that come with the car.

Standard engine that comes with the car / chassismust be used.

Must use stock standard gearing that comes with the car / chassis.

Must use stock standard guide that comes with the car / chassis.

Can change mounting screws on BRM to 6mm screws.
