The following section contains answers to some of the most commonly asked questions we receive as well as general information relating to Membership, Code of Conduct, Slot Car brands we race etc.

We hope that we have covered everything, however if you cannot find the answer you are looking for and require assistance, then please feel free to contact us via our Enquiry Form and we will respond with an answer to your question.

In the meantime why not take a look at some our slot car track layouts. Oz Scale Racers race on routed wooden tracks with a varnished surface and consist of both 3 and 4 lane tracks, all of which use the Race Coordinator computer timing system.

1. Looks like good fun, how do I join Oz Scale Racers?

The process of Oz Scale Racers is pretty easy, however as you can appreciate because we race on tracks situated in members’ homes we need to know a bit more about you. Step 1 is to complete and submit our online Enquiry Form and we will contact you to discuss the next step.

2. Do you have a Code of Conduct and Rules?

Yes. Oz Scale Racers Slot Car Group Melbourne takes great pride in promoting a fun and relaxed racing atmosphere, hence anyone wishing to join need to abide the clubs code of conduct.

Oz Scale Racers will not accept any member being abused or made to feel uncomfortable. Any member caught doing so will be warned and if they continue will be asked to leave the club. Events are held on home tracks so you must respect their homes and track etc at all times.

3. How much does it cost to become a member?

There's no actual Membership Fee as such, as we are sponsored by Bonza Slot Cars & Hobbies.

4. What car scales do you race?

Although Oz Scale Racers primarily run 1:32 scale slot cars, we also have several 1:24 Scale classes with brands including: BRM / TTS. 1:32 scale brands include: Pioneer, Revo Slot, Scaleauto, NSR, Scalextric, FlySlot, Vanquish & SCX to name a few.

5. How often do you race?

Race events are held every fortnight on a Saturday with events being rotated between our tracks. Although on some special occasions like Enduros which start earlier, starting times are usually around 6.30pm and run until approx. 11pm.

6. What types of race events do you run?

The race events we run depend on the occasion. For example during Bathurst or LeMans we may run an Enduro featuring key cars from those events. The rest of the time depends on the track owner. Events can include: Team Enduros, Fuel Races, Crash’n Burn, Timed Races and even just plain old Lap Times. No matter the event, we guarantee that you will have fun.

7. Do you hold classes to help beginners?

Yes. We understand that there can be a lot to learn especially for members that may be new to the slot car, so we hold Fix-it nights in order to assist those members wishing to learn the tips and techniques on tuning their cars.

Fix-it nights are usually held at track venue so you can test your cars and make the most out of the night.

8. What type of tracks do you have? Can I see them?

Oz Scale Racers race on Routed Wooden Tracks which promotes much smoother and better racing.

9. Can I attend an event and have a go before I join?

Yes, we allow new members to participate at the cost of $2.00 per attendance. ( plus $5.00 if we have a BBQ ). After you have attended 3 race events,and all goes well, then you will be allowed to join.
